Believe it or not the picture below is a menu display. In other words, a menu card, represented visually for diners to get a fair sense of what to expect in the varied thaalis. Displayed inside a glass case, the food models range from different types of fish, bhakri, rice, papad, solkadhi, chicken and what not. Food images in a menu card is nothing new but these models of food thaalis and dishes were new for me. While I’d already made up my mind on my dinner choice, I couldn’t help but spend some time on this visual treat and engage in an exercise of appreciation at not just the concept but the art as well. Sometimes little surprises and creative innovations are found in the most unlikely of places, like this tiny restaurant in Ganpatipule:)
