Be it the Levantine Maqlooba, a Ratatouille, Shepher’s Pie, the simple Thayiru Sadham, or her vey own stuffed squid in mushroom sauce, she’s always raking up a gastronomical storm in her kitchen. Like most foodies, she loves to cook, loves to feed and simply loves to eat (in random order). Growing up in Saudi Arabia, she was in primary school when she first tasted the kabsa. A plain chicken and rice dish with barely any strong spices, loaded with vegetables and meat, often hailed as the country’s national dish, till this day, kabsa happens to be her favourite. She loves to cook continental and Arabic dishes. Her bread rolls and cutlets are a rage. And above all else, she loves to eat. Never the one to shy away from good food, her plate is always full at all parties. And she won’t stop at one helping because if food is good, who would stop at just one small portion? Presenting, cookastory’s Foodie of the Month, Reeba Elizabeth Varghese. Homemaker and mother of two school going boys, settled in Trivandrum, she carries the spirit of a culinary enthusiast in its most faithful form, by consuming it and sharing it. She firmly believes in embracing new cultures through food by experimenting with the unknown; she also has her heart in the right place. If her son’s friend is unable to bring lunch to school, she would make sure she prepares an extra lunch box so that the child does not go hungry. Such is her generosity. And her culinary opinions are always on the mark. If anyone is ever in any doubt about a particular dish, look no further; Reeba’s opinion will fetch a realistic feedback, such is the reputation of her tastebuds. Here’s wishing Reeba heartiest wishes on her culinary life. May her tribe grow. In the meantime, take a look at the yummilicious dishes from her kitchen.
